These activities mainly concern structural tubes for innovative architectural projects, industrial installations, public facilities and private sector buildings.

In the construction field, steel has always made it possible to create bold and aesthetic designs. The Group’s upscale tubular products have naturally helped architects carry out their plans, including the Stade de France stadium and Grande Arche de la Défense in France; Hanover exhibition hall, Humboldt bridge, Sony Center, Berlin train station and Allianz Arena in Munich, all in Germany; Bangkok airport in Thailand; Liège train station in Belgium; and Wembley stadium and the head office of Swiss Re in London, both in the United Kingdom.

To maintain its competitive edge over more traditional solutions, the Group has initiated R&D programmes to improve existing products and expand its range of products and solutions. For example, it has just developed PREON®, a modular system of prefabricated lattice beams, which is proving a popular choice for constructing plants, warehouses and other industrial buildings.

What are our tubes used for ?

Towering tubes ! Vallourec will supply the necessary parts for building the antenna of the planned Freedom Tower in New York. The 124 m antenna will be erected on top of the 541 m (1,776 ft.) skyscraper, which will be built at Ground Zero. It will be assembled using 480 tonnes of hollow sections manufactured at the Aulnoye plants in France and in the company’s German plants in Düsseldorf-Rath, Düsseldorf-Reisholz and Mülheim.
