Safety first - "Cap Ten Safe"

Cap Ten Safe

The safety of our employees is a priority. In 2008, the Group launched the "Cap Ten Safe" project, overseen directly by the Group's Executive Committee, which sets out ambitious targets to reduce accidents. In 2010, 3,000 managers have completed more than 60 000 safety visits at every Group's site. At end-November 2010, the annual LTIR* stood at 3.2: it is down by two-thirds in two years, and Vallourec reported 200 fewer accidents than in 2008.

* LTIR: number of accidents with lost time per million hours worked.

Training and motivation

Vallourec's training policy aims to balance the career aspirations of its employees with professional requirements of the company. Almost half of the training time is focused on improving professional skills, and one third is dedicated to safety.

Focus on...

Corporate social responsability

Responsibility does not end at the door to our offices and plants. It extends well beyond through our influence on civil society. A partner committed to a balanced development model, Vallourec assigns great importance to the surrounding community and strives to establish relations of reciprocal understanding and trust. For example, the Group is very active in Brazil, where it has created a variety of initiatives, including converting the Cine Teatro building in Belo Horizonte into a cultural centre dedicated to artistic production.
